I will start riding my DRZ-S next year in TBEC events and am trying to get it ready for off roading.
Some of the advice I have found on the web seems sensible enough but I'm unsure if it would be allowed through scrutineering at a TBEC/ACU event.
In particular is being advised to remove the front sprocket cover (and replace with an open type case saver) and remove or cut down the rear chain guard?
Any guidance would be gratefully received.
Thanks, Mark.

The rear chain guard that runs on top of the swingarm is not a problem to remove and is only needed for MOT if you have pillion pegs. Removal of the front sprocket cover will however result in failure at scrutineering, and I have seen this happen. Luckily the guy had the cover in his van and was able to replace it and still race!

Hi Mark,
You will need to keep the front sprocket cover on, not just for TBEC but for any ACU event, but you can remove the rear chain guard.
Also make sure you have yellow backings on side and front panels and black numbers.
It would be a good idea to remove the indicators (less to break) and the number plate if it's a road type one.
Hand guards are useful, but if not fitted, make sure the ends of the grips aren't ripped or cut, as the handlebar ends need be covered. The levers mustn't be broken or filed flat, they need ball ends.
Also check the wheel, swinging arm and headrace bearings aren't knocking.
If your bike has an aftermarket pipe, check it's not too loud.
I hope this all helps!
Fiona
